Dear mfe Design Customers:

Adobe has announced it will stop hosting existing sites on Business Catalyst (BC) on March 26th, 2020 2021 (BC has extended ther End of Life, one year as of Apr 9, 2018 8pm EST). This announcement was an unexpected shock to the Business Catalyst Partner community that for the last 9 years has dedicated themselves to promoting the beneficial power of hosting a website with Business Catalyst (see official announcement). All websites built by mfe Design will be affected by Adobe's decision to end their hosting platform. After March 26, 2021 all websites hosted on Business Catalyst will cease operation.

What We Know Today

In the past week, the Business Catalyst developer community has sprung into action to develop some options for clients to move forward with their websites. Currently, potential and existing solutions include:

We are watching all these developments closely, but we are still waiting to see how they flesh out before we make specific recommendations to each of you. We will be providing recommendations to each of you based on your site's unique needs as soon as we have clarity on best options, pricing, etc.

I have developed an FAQ that I will use to update you on commonly asked questions as we obtain more information.

We will send out more emails when we have a better understanding of our options. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions - I will answer them to the best of my ability. *Remember that we have three full years to develop your website strategy.

Thank you for your patience,

Adam McGough, mfe Design

Business Catalyst End of Life (Discontinued) FAQ

Here is a list of commonly asked questions and answers regarding what this product decision means to your business and website.

1. What is the immediate impact of this decision to my website and business?
LAST UPDATED: Apr 9, 2018
There will be no immediate impact on your business website. All functionality, updates and support will continue until March 26, 2020 2021 (BC has extended the End of Life, one year), if you so choose.

2. Is this going to cost me extra money?
LAST UPDATED: Mar 29, 2018
The answer to this is currently unclear. What we can tell you today is that:
  • We will be considering all options, but will have a focus on minimizing the financial impact on you
  • We will be evaluating your unique situation based on your website's need

3. There is a lot of custom functionality on my site. It is going to go away?
LAST UPDATED: Mar 30, 2018

We do not want it to affect your websites functionality. Every solution we research will be weighed against the need to maintain current website function and improve functioning whenever possible.

4. I am about to launch my site. Is it worth following through?
LAST UPDATED: Apr 10, 2018
Yes. We are encouraging all clients to complete their website redesigns and move forward. You have three full years of life in your site (which is a lot of time in the current web design cycle) to both achieve return on investment and develop a platform migration plan. New Sites must be launched by August 27th, 2018.

5. I just launched my site. Am I going to have to turn around and rebuild the site over?
LAST UPDATED: Mar 30, 2018

We are researching all options to best change hosting platforms in a way that minimize financial impact on your website and efficiently transfer your website. As soon as we determine the options available and determine which options best fit for your specific situation, we will schedule a meeting to walk through the options with you.
